As much as I want to be a Pinterest mom, I am most definitely an Amazon mom. So I am pretty much making this reel for future me. :joy: We’ve thrown parties at parks, play places, water parks, and arcades. :tada: Lincoln’s summer birthday can be tricky as it falls the week before school starts. Friends are often traveling, so we’ve usually done small (and last minute :grimacing:) celebrations, not at home. This year she realllly wanted to celebrate at home and invite more friends. I wasn’t thrilled but it ended up being a fun party, and most importantly, the birthday girl was happy. **Here were 7 things I liked about a party at home:** 1. **Flexible schedule**: we planned the party at a time that worked for us without being restricted by a venue. :alarm_clock: And baby sis could nap during setup! 2. **Cost-effective**: we saved on venue fees, allowing more flexibility with spending on decorations, entertainment, dessert. :dollar: We also weren’t limited to number of guests / having to pay extra for more kids. 3. **No travel hassles**: it was nice to not have to transport decorations, food, supplies, and children. :oncoming_automobile: Plus it’s one less thing to stress about, especially if you’re time-challenged like me. 4. **Personalized decor**: we had full control over decorations, and when we could set up. :balloon: If you’re in the Austin area, checkout @popofballoonsatx. Her balloons were our only decor and they were fabulous. Lincoln audibly gasped when Amanda walked in with the balloons. 5. **Food and guest control**: we had complete control over food and dessert served, including timing. :cupcake: And we didn’t have to share space with a bunch of other kiddos. 6. **Creative freedom**: the opportunities are endless for theme and activities at home. :slide: We rented a giant water slide with a slip n slide from @skyhighpartyrentals. They always arrive at the time we schedule them, and the people who set up the equipment are friendly and knowledgeable. They do a great job! It is super easy to book the rentals on their website. They give us tax-free because we are non-profit. They make the whole process super easy and we have never had a problem, at least not one they didn't immediately solve! We are thankful that Sky High is always dependable and provides a convenient source for our water slide and snow cone rental.
